Who We Are

What we bring to the fight is almost 20 years of deep experience statewide in the litigation of power line fires. We are dedicated to maximizing recovery in each and every case.

Our founding attorney, Angela Jae Chun, gained valuable experience in litigating fault and preparing/settling client damages in the three 2007 San Diego fire cases against the responsible electric utilities. Representing over 550 families and businesses, the team of which we were a part of, recovered over half a billion dollars for the victims of those fires against SDG&E.

Our experience does not stop there. We played an active role in the Northern California fire cases in the 2017 Napa and Redwood Valley fires, and the 2018 Camp fire. We represented over 1,000 individuals and businesses who were impacted by these fires and recovered $325 million dollars on their behalf.

Why Work With Us

Power line fire litigation is a small and discrete world. Not many attorneys have the necessary knowledge and experience to handle these cases well against determined utility opposition. Our perspective on power line fires, gained from long experience, forms our approach to representation of people harmed by these fires.

We understand each case is different and deserves personalized attention. If you choose us, you will not be part of a lawyer assembly line or class action, which tend to mostly benefit the lawyers; nor will you be lost in the shuffle. You’ll benefit from receiving personalized representation for your specific losses.

Fair Contingency Fee

We offer a fair and competitive contingency fee for our services.

All litigation costs will be advanced by our law firm. You will not be charged for any costs if we do not recover compensation for you.

We do not take a fee on your insurance recoveries.

About the Eaton Fire

On January 7, 2025, the Eaton Fire started in Altadena, California, scorching 14,021 acres east of Los Angeles. This fire took the lives of at least 17 people with many still missing, destroyed or damaged over 10,000 structures, injured nine firefighters, and displaced over 100,000 residents. Strong Santa Ana winds fueled the fire’s rapid spread, leaving little time for residents to evacuate. It is now the second-most destructive wildfire in California history.

Although the cause of the Eaton Fire remains under investigation, video footage suggests electrical arcing and sparking on Southern California Edison’s power lines in Eaton Canyon before the flames erupted, raising concerns that negligence by the utility company may have caused the fire.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. When is the right time to hire your legal team?: The sooner, the better. Our team can assist you immediately after the fire by helping you navigate your insurance claim, document your losses properly, and ensure you don’t settle for less than you deserve. Even if you've already started the claims process, we can step in at any time to maximize your recovery and pursue a third-party claim against Southern California Edison for damages your insurance won’t cover.

  2. Does hiring your team affect my insurance claim?: No, we do not take a fee on your insurance recoveries. Our goal is to maximize your insurance claim and recover additional compensation from the responsible utility company, which does fall under the contingency fee.

  3. What is a third party claim?: A third-party claim seeks compensation directly from the party we deem as responsible for the fire rather than relying solely on insurance payouts. This can help cover underinsured or uninsured losses.

  4. Who can file a third-party wildfire claim?: Homeowners, renters, business owners, and property owners who suffered losses—whether from property damage, personal injury, business interruption, or wrongful death—may be eligible to file a claim against Southern California Edison.

  5. What damages can I recover?: Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for: property repair and rebuilding costs, lost personal belongings and sentimental items, antiques/collectibles, business losses and interruption costs, temporary housing expenses, economic time spent in fire recovery, mental suffering, emotional distress and personal injury damages, and wrongful death claims for lost loved ones, even pets.

  6. How does a third party claim against Southern California Edison work?: When you file a claim against a utility company for causing a wildfire, your case is treated as an individual lawsuit but is consolidated with similar cases for efficiency. We will need to prove liability, collect evidence, and fight for full and fair compensation.

  7. Are there deadlines to file wildfire lawsuits in California?: Yes, between 2-3 years usually. California law sets strict deadlines for wildfire lawsuits.

  8. What should I do now?: Document your losses as soon as possible. Take photos, save receipts, and track all expenses. File your insurance claim.

  9. Why should I hire your team?: We have over a decade of wildfire litigation experience, we recovered hundreds of millions for past fire victims, we can maximize insurance and government assistance like FEMA and SBA, we do not take a fee on insurance recoveries, and we work on a contingency fee—we only get paid if we win.

  10. How does my insurance payout affect a potential claim against SCE?: Any compensation you receive from insurance (e.g., for property damage) may be factored into your total recovery, but this doesn’t prevent you from pursuing additional damages from SCE. Third-party claims often cover losses insurers exclude or undervalue—such as emotional distress, lost wages, or diminished property value. We’ll analyze your policy and strategize to maximize your recovery.
